Laura started to play the piano and cello at the age of 7 and continued classically through school and college playing in various orchestras and choirs. She learnt guitar and started writing and performing her own songs which is where her passion evolved for song writing and performance. Hardly conventional, Laura believes in nurturing the aspirations of the student, building confidence, belief and adventure in what they are playing.
Her rich sonorous tones and sensitive approach to song writing led Laura to study at Dartington College of Arts where she graduated in 2006 in Music Performance. Whilst at Dartington, Laura also spent time working closely with interdisciplinary art practices, collaborating with Dance, Theatre and Visual Artists. This broad scope allowed a freedom and perspective when focusing on her main specialist subject; Jazz piano, Song Writing and Performance.
As a talented singer and songwriter, she is constantly performing as a solo artist, in showcases and also collaboratively works with various musicians and bands. She also has experience as a sessions singer with a London Production Company.
Presently Laura is teaching jazz piano and song writing as well as tutoring adult beginner's piano classes, and is also available for adult education workshops.
Laura has a sensitive yet engaging approach to teaching music which nurtures the aspirations of the student and it is her belief that we are always learning and through Solo Teachers & Events Agency, music is an adventure and a challenge to be embraced, wherever Laura is concerned.
